S.S. Roosevelt at Night  – 21C

Post marked Chicago, Ill, Jan 6, 1911.   Addressed to Mr. Lee Weaver, #94 Tireman Ave. Detroit, Michigan.

“Jan 6 -11.  Dear Lee, Why don’t some of you folks write did you get the letter I sent at Christmas. I am in this Windy City tonight.  Aunt Christeen [Christiana Weaver Rinehart, Lemuel Weaver’s sister]”

Aunt Teen seems a bit peeved that she has not heard from her brother’s family since Christmas, but then it also appears she is traveling since she lived in Columbus, Ohio.  I wonder if she talked like she wrote — one constant sentence with no pause.   I read that puncutation is going out of style in 2016 due to electronic communications and shorted messages.  I think this started over a hundred years earlier.

About Pat Shaul

Genealogist / Family Historian; Blog started as a record of my Grandfather's post card collection which ran for 15 months. Then, in June, 2017, I changed over to reporting and commenting on notifications from the ANCESTRY app "We're Related" I then started to provide snippets into ancestor biographies on the dates that were significant anniversaries.
