Mayflower Families – Silver Books Index, Part 1, 2, and 3. Published by the General Society of Mayflower Descendants. This is an all-name index for the entire Silver Book run. After I review my ancestral names, I may need to pull more volumes of the Silver Books I have stored and put them on the shelves. The index applied to all 25 volumes with the exception of: Volume 1 (Francis Eaton, Samuel Fuller, William White), Volume 2 (James Chilton, Richard More, Thomas Rogers), and Volume 5 (Edward Winslow, John Billington). The excluded volumes were later published as separate volumes: Francis Eaton (vol 9), Samuel Fuller (vol 10), William White (vol 13), James Chilton and Richard More (vol 15), Thomas Rogers (vol 19), Edward Winslow (vol 25), John Billington (vol 21).
The Deerfield Massacre by James L. Swanson arrived this past week. It is about the February 29, 1704 raid on the town of Deerfield, Massachusetts, during the French and Indian War. My 7th and 8th great grandparents were in Deerfield at the time. Seventh GGP (Benjamin and Thankful Nims Munn) survived by hiding in their snow covered house. The eighth great grandparents (Godfrey and Mary Miller Nims( did not fend as well. Their house, barn and all possessions were burned. Four of their children were killed. 8GGM (Mary Miller Nims) and three of the children were taken captive to Quebec.
