PingreeMonument1911

The Pingree Monument in West Grand Circus Park, was erected in 1904 by popular subscription.  The late Hazen S. Pingree was four times Mayor of Detroit, and twice Governor of Michigan.  He died June 18th, 1901, aged 60 years.

Post marked Sept 16, 1911, Redford, Mich.

Addresses to Mrs. Effie [Lee] Weaver: “Sat Morning.  Dear Sister, Do not worry about me, I am all right this morning only a little weak, was much better yesterday and should have sent you a card but will try and have it get out this morning.   Myra [Lee Churches]”

Before the constant use of the telephone, the penny postcard was the “instant” communication device used.

About Pat Shaul

Genealogist / Family Historian; Blog started as a record of my Grandfather's post card collection which ran for 15 months. Then, in June, 2017, I changed over to reporting and commenting on notifications from the ANCESTRY app "We're Related" I then started to provide snippets into ancestor biographies on the dates that were significant anniversaries.
