The Navy — “Close Quarters”  169

Post marked Eloise, Mich.  Apr 22, 1910.   Addressed to Mr. Lee Weaver, D & C Nav Co., Steamer Eastern States, Detroit, Mich.

“Received you letter will ans soon.   Like it fine at present.  Get your bon bons for you will need them.  B.D.  [B. Denning] Eloise C. H. [Eloise Country Home, Wayne, MI]”

The Eloise Country Home was a combination poor house and asylum that was pretty much used for any out of control relatives in the early 20th century.  It is interesting that Grandpa Lee had a friend living there since one of the family stories is that his parents, Lemuel and Effie Lee Weaver, met and married in an insane asylum — they were attendants in the same facility in Nebraska.

Added point of interest, was Grandpa double timing Grandma?   Stay tuned…..

About Pat Shaul

Genealogist / Family Historian; Blog started as a record of my Grandfather's post card collection which ran for 15 months. Then, in June, 2017, I changed over to reporting and commenting on notifications from the ANCESTRY app "We're Related" I then started to provide snippets into ancestor biographies on the dates that were significant anniversaries.
