Longfellow Poem – 1910

LongfellowPoem1910

The day is done and the darkness Falls from the wings of night.  — Longfellow

Post marked Redford Mich., Dec 16, 1910.   Addressed to Mrs. Effie L[ee] Weaver, 94 Tireman Ave, Detroit, Mich.

“Redford Mich,   Dec. 16, 1910.   Dear Aunt, Suppose you have been waiting to hear from us. But Grandma [Esther Jenks Lee, Effie’s mother] and I done the butchering alone and are all through.  Thought it was to cold for you to come out and leave Uncle Lem [Lemuel Weaver].  We are all well.   I am over home today.  Want you to come out Chirstmas.  Estelle [Wright]”

A bit of guilt being passed to Effie from Esther through Estelle?

About Pat Shaul

Genealogist / Family Historian; Blog started as a record of my Grandfather's post card collection which ran for 15 months. Then, in June, 2017, I changed over to reporting and commenting on notifications from the ANCESTRY app "We're Related" I then started to provide snippets into ancestor biographies on the dates that were significant anniversaries.
