Two bites to a cherry – 1912

CherryBites1912

Two bites to a cherry a great game – try it.  Reinthal & Newman, Pubs. N. Y.  No 161.  Entered Stationers Hall, London.

Post marked Saginaw West Side, Mich.  Aug 5, 1912.  Addressed to Mr. Lee Weaver, 94 Tireman Ave., Detroit, Mich.

“316 No. Bond St. W.S.    Hope the weather is better for boating in Detroit than here.  I always said I would like to live in a small place but am changing my mind considerably.  Find out if Minnie is home.  Never heard from her. If g. 2 I/6 L/ F.E.O”

Well!  The ending sentence is pure code.  Apparently, the writer did not not want the postman to be privy to to total message — nor Great Grandma Effie Weaver, Lee’s mother.  This appears to be the “other” Florence in Grandpa’s sparking days.   Rather bold post card for 1912.   A follow up on yesterdays’ card.

About Pat Shaul

Genealogist / Family Historian; Blog started as a record of my Grandfather's post card collection which ran for 15 months. Then, in June, 2017, I changed over to reporting and commenting on notifications from the ANCESTRY app "We're Related" I then started to provide snippets into ancestor biographies on the dates that were significant anniversaries.
