Post marked Columbus, Ohio. May 8, 1914. Addressed to Mr. Lee G. Weaver, #92 Tireman Ave. Detroit, Michigan.
“5/8/14 Dear Nephew, Yours recd. Glad to hear your Pa [Lemuel Weaver, Lee’s father]is improving. Hope he will be able to sit up by the time this reaches you and hope it will find all your folks well. Is May [Mariam Mae Wright, Lee’s cousin] with you? We had a heavy rain this morn. Now it is cool. I hope it will not get cold enough to frost. My garden looks nice enough 2 sit out 13 tomato plants. I would not like them to get killed. Write when you have time. Does Aunt Rose [Roseanah Weaver Fisher, Lemuel’s sister] need anything? Let me know. By By All Christeen [Christiana Weaver Rinehart Schwartz, Lemuel’s sister]. [across the top] Everybody is working every day.”
More insight into Great Grandpa Weaver being ill. He does recover since he lives until 1929. Address on post card is wrong, 92 instead of 94. but that did not deter the postal carrier of 1914.
