Mound Cemetery, Marietta, O. – 1910

moundcemetery1910

Mound in Mound Cemetery, Marietta, O.  No. 1350.  Publ. by International Post Card Co.,  New York.  4.  Made in Germany.

Post marked Marietta, Ohio.  Jul 29, 1910.   Addressed to Miss Florence Koontz, 1346 W. Broad St., Columbus, O.

“Hello Florence, This a good place here for chickens.   Two rivers to skate on and lots of hills to coast on.”

There is no signature.  Good thing.  Either there was a very strange July weather occurrence in Marietta Ohio on this day in July — the rivers were frozen to allow skating and the hills were covered with snow to allow coasting — or the writer had a great imagination.    Not sure why the cemetery was so good for chickens.

About Pat Shaul

Genealogist / Family Historian; Blog started as a record of my Grandfather's post card collection which ran for 15 months. Then, in June, 2017, I changed over to reporting and commenting on notifications from the ANCESTRY app "We're Related" I then started to provide snippets into ancestor biographies on the dates that were significant anniversaries.
