A Merry Christmas

A Merry Christmas

No post mark [not mailed].  No addressee [message written across both sides of card]

“Dear Sister, will send you a dollar for to buy yourself a Christmas present.  I did not know what to get, now you get whatever you like.  Hope this will find you well and able to eat a big dinner.  I have had the gripa for a week – don’t feel very well yet.  Rose A Fisher [Roseanah Weaver Fisher]”

Aunt Rose, Great Grandfather Lemuel Weaver’s sister, and Aunt Teen seem to have gotten their cards from the same source.  This one was sent to Great Grandmother Effie Lee Weaver.  It also appears to be in the pre-1913 era.   The $1 in 1913 would be the equivalent of about $25 today.    It would also seem the two sisters, Christiana and Roseanah both had the same health issue this year.

About Pat Shaul

Genealogist / Family Historian; Blog started as a record of my Grandfather's post card collection which ran for 15 months. Then, in June, 2017, I changed over to reporting and commenting on notifications from the ANCESTRY app "We're Related" I then started to provide snippets into ancestor biographies on the dates that were significant anniversaries.
