Reese Witherspoon – 10th cousin ???

ReeseWitherspoonIn another of Ancestry trying to make things fit, they presented my pedigree with the top two levels set at PRIVATE.  This makes no sense since the line is extremely well documented by the Botsford Family History Association.   PRIVATE – 1, my 8 times great grandmother, the mother of Samuel Botsford (1670-1745) was Hannah Baldwin (1644-1691).  PRIVATE-2, my 9 times great grandfather, and Hannah Baldwin’s father, was Timothy Baldwin (1616-1664).  This fits with the next level in Reese’s line that has Sarah Baldwin as the daughter of PRIVATE-2.   So far, all looks good.   The problem is that they decided that Sarah Baldwin (1653-1717) was the daughter of Timothy Baldwin (if that is the true identity of PRIVATE-2, and our link), had a son William Bartlett (1693-1762).   Sarah (1645-1706), the daughter of Timothy, was married only once, to Samuel Buckingham.  The reality is that it looks like there are multiple Sarah Baldwin entries and the use of PRIVATE has connected where there is solely a name match with no real evidence.  So, sadly, I will have to claim this is a NO MATCH.

About Pat Shaul

Genealogist / Family Historian; Blog started as a record of my Grandfather's post card collection which ran for 15 months. Then, in June, 2017, I changed over to reporting and commenting on notifications from the ANCESTRY app "We're Related" I then started to provide snippets into ancestor biographies on the dates that were significant anniversaries.
