George Clinton, the first person reported by We’re Related that I had to look up because I had no idea who the heck he was, showed up in a second reporting, # 364, as my 5th cousin, 7 times removed, through our MRCA, Margaret Campbell (1560-xxxx), the grandmother of James Pringle (1602-1634), my 9th great grandfather and the furthest documented ancestor I have in that lineage. Now the claim is that Granny Margaret had two daughters, 30 years apart, my lineage at age 8!, George’s at age 38. George’s is much more believable. In the earlier notification, # 65, we walk the same line, but call out Margaret’s husband as the MRCA, William Cunningham (1532-1580). William’s dates seem more reasonable. Possibly, whoever typed in the tree that Ancestry pick these fruits from, missed a key stroke for Margaret’s birth year.
Oh, in case you were wondering, George Clinton was the Vice President of the United States under Thomas Jefferson and again under James Madison.
