Remembering a Patriot Ancestor

It was 224 years ago on 29 April 1795 in Guilford, New Haven, Connecticut, when my 5 times great grandfather, William Lee, passed away. He was born in 1741 in the same town in which he died, to Ebenezer and Sarah Chidsey Lee.  There he also married Eunice Hotchkiss.  The two raised eight children:  William (1771) [my 4 times great grandfather and the one who brought my Lee line to Michigan], Reuben (1773), Tim (1775), Charles (1777), Sarah (1782), Elon (1786), Charles (1788) [earlier sibling of the same name died the prior year], and Jonathan.

The gap in the children’s birth years can be explained by Grandfather Lee serving as a Private in Capt. Northrupt’s Company,  Silliman’s Regiment, Wadsworth’s Brigade of the Connecticut Militia during the American Revolution.

Another supplemental application being prepared…..

About Pat Shaul

Genealogist / Family Historian; Blog started as a record of my Grandfather's post card collection which ran for 15 months. Then, in June, 2017, I changed over to reporting and commenting on notifications from the ANCESTRY app "We're Related" I then started to provide snippets into ancestor biographies on the dates that were significant anniversaries.
