Vincent Price — more than a voice on Thriller!

VincentPrice

We’re Related notice # 348 has Vincent Price as my 7th cousin, 3 times removed through our MRCA, Ferdinando Thayer (1625-1713), who would be the 3rd great grandfather of Esther Clark, my 4th great grandmother and the furthest I have documented on that lineage.  But, back at report #68, We’re Related informed me that Vincent was again, my 7th cousin, 3 times removed, through our MRCA Huldah Hayward (1636-1690), the 3rd great grandmother of the same Esther Clark.  The lineage up the Thayer line to either of the two MRCA entries follow different ancestor mixes.  It is as if  We’re Related found different personal trees each time and used them in one case and them then other.  The lineage from both down to Vincent is identical implying that Ferdinando and Huldah were probably married, but the  lineage back to Esther is so jumbled, I would not be drawing that same conclusion.   I will just set the whole mess aside as something that is probably to confused to try to clean up.

President John Adams –

JohnAdams

John Adams, 2nd President of the United States, Report #346, has us as 6th cousins, 7 times removed, through our MRCA, John White (1550-1618), the 5th great grandfather of the furthest member of that line I have documented, Thankful Isham (1752-1834), my 5th great grandmother.   But then, he also sneaks into Report # 292 as Private, the father of John Quincy Adams (my 4th cousin, 7 times removed).  Now this is an investigation that was hard to finish: figure out the identity of Private, the father of John Quincy Adams.   The MRCA in this lineage is Samuel Bass (1600-1694), the 4th great grandfather of the furthest documented member of lineage, my 4th great grandmother, Esther Clark.  But as the commercial says, Wait, There’s More!  Report #3 shows Cousin John as my 3rd cousin 8 times removed, through our MRCA, Henry Adams (1583-1646), the 4th great grandfather of the same Esther Clark, through a different parentage line!  Forget that business of George Washington being  the father of this country, I think the ancestors of John Adams get the title!

Richard Gere – 347 bad lineage, 60 8C1R

RichardGere

We’re Related report # 347 gives a clean lineage for me to our MRCA, Edward Smith (1636-1693), whom I have documentation showing as my 8th great grandfather.  Richard’s lineage leaves a bit to be desired in that it reports his 4th great grandmother, Orpha J Hawkins (1750-1793) was born 9 years AFTER the death of her mother, Mary Smith (1705-1741).  In the earlier report from We’re Related, our MRCA, Mehitable Holbrook (1649-1719), my documented 8th great grandmother, is clean on cousin Richard’s lineage with no post-death births.  So, yes to #60;  serious doubt on the validity of #347.

President Franklin Pierce – 6th cousin, 6 times remove — double sixes!

FranklinPierce

Franklin Pierce as my sixth cousin, six times removed, was the #345 report from We’re Related.  This time our MRCA was Ursula Alice Dimery (1596-1665), the 5th great grandmother of my last documented ancestor in that line, my 4th great grandmother, Esther Clark.  That leaves 7 generations to research and verify!  Earlier, in notice #13, Cousin Franklin was reported as my 6th cousin, 5 times removed, through our MRCA, Mary Heath (1594-1629), the mother of my furthest documented ancestor in that line.  Mary Johnson (1614-1679), my 9th great grandmother was supposed to be the daughter of the MRCA.  Definitely, less generations to research in this case!  For Franklin’s lineage, # 13 and # 345 meet at his great grandparents, #13 – Abigail Bowen (1700-1775) and #345 – Caleb Kendrick (1694-1771), the parents of Benjamin Kendrick (1724-1812).

Lucille Ball — Lucy, there is not a lot of splainin to do …

Lucy

We’re Related reports that Lucy is my 8th cousin, once removed, through our MRCA, Edward Smith (1636-1693)!  This tracks through my documented line!  Lucy’s lineage is through the much documented Sprague family.  This happens to be We’re Related #344!  Cousin Lucy also appeared in report #8, also as an 8th cousin, once removed. In #8, our MRCA was Mehitable Holbrook, my 8th great grandmother.   Lucy’s pedigree still goes through the Sprague family, but instead of splitting off at her 5th great grandmother, Sarah Smith and tracking two more generations to Edward, #8 continues with her 5th great grandfather Hezekiah Sprague for two generations to Mehitable.  So, Cousin Lucy, proof the tree has talent and quite a bit of zany — apparently times two!

Demi Lovato – 8C2R

DemiLovato

Demi Lovato is supposed to be my 8th cousin, twice removed, with the MRCA being Maria Margaretha Schopferin (1662-1750), the great grandmother of Magdelena Dockstader, the furthest back in that particular lineage I have documented.   4th great grandmother Dockstader was born in a province of what is now Germany — I have not been able to pin it down.   So,that would mean at least 4 generations of German research to include this line.  Then there is Demi’s lineage: 4 generations of Smith, 2 of Hopper, and then variations of different spellings of sound alike names.  This could turn out to be a very LARGE PROJECT!

Johns Hopkins – is there a Family Tree Doctor in the House?

JohnsHopkins

A second notification that Johns Hopkins was my relative from We’re Related did not give me any more confidence that the original.  In #342, our MRCA, Elizabeth Kensey (1651-1716) was supposed to be the mother of Charity Sparrow (1640-1687).  I have never seen a proof where a child can be born 11 YEARS BEFORE THEIR MOTHER!  This is what We’re Related reported as my direct line to the MRCA.  In the earlier report, #290, there are a different set of players at the top with the MRCA, Thomas Sparrow (1620-1717) and then my line riddled with PRIVATE entries.  Needless to say, not even in the TO DO List pile.

John Brown – a smolderin in his grave …

JohnBrown

In this second go around from We’re Related, I am told John Brown is my 7th cousin, 4 times removed through our MRCA, Robert White (1558-1617), 6 generations beyond my documented 4th great grandmother, Esther Clark.  That’s going to be a lot of reseach to prove that connection!  This was notification # 341.  In the earlier, # 16, We’re Related has a much closer connection to our MRCA, Samuel Chapin (1598-1675) in my 6th great grandfather, Moses Hitchcock who is only 3 generations away from the MRCA.  This notice shows us as being 6th cousins, 4 times removed.  This also traverses a different line for both John and myself.  John’s lineage in # 16 is through his father, Owen Brown.   The lineage in # 341 traces through his mother, Ruth Mills.  My #16 follows the Munn line; # 341 follows the Clark line.   Another potential double cousin relationship and for John, a possible his own cousin.

Winston Churchill – Statesman and Cousin?

WinstonChurhill

Winston Churchill appears as my 8th cousin, twice removed, in the most recent notification from We’re Related — #340.  In this iteration, our MRCA is Francis Baker (1611-1696), the great grandfather of my furthest documented ancestor in that lineage, Dinah Harris (1702-1796), my 6th great grandmother.   This lineage follows the Jenks  → Smith → Harris , →King → Baker lineage.    In an earlier reporting, #43. We’re Related has Winnie as my 7th cousin, three times removed, though our MRCA, Abigail Burt (1623-1692).  Abigail is the great grandmother of my furthest documented ancestor in that lineage, John Munn (1712-1785), my 6th great grandfather.  This lineage follows the Lee → Munn → Burt lineage.  In Cousin Winston’s Lineage the two meet up at his grandparents: #43 – Leonard Walter Jerome (1817-1891) and #340 – Clarissa Hall (1825-1895), the parents of Jennie Jerome (1854-1921), Winston Churchill’s mother.   So, to prove my link to Winston, I can attack either line the Munn → Burt or the Harris → King → Baker.  If it all pans out, it will show that not only is he my cousin, but he is also his own cousin!

Edgar Allen Poe – Nevermore?

EdgarAllenPoe

Edgar Allen Poe showed up for a reprise in We’re Related as #339 (7th cousin, 3 times removed) with MRCA, Elizabeth Woodhouse (1612-1666), the great grandmother of my furthest documented ancestor on that line, my 6th great grandmother, Dinah Harris (1702-1796).  The original notification, #25 (6th cousin, 5 times removed), called out the MRCA as Matthew Fuller (1603-1691), the 5th great grandfather of my furthest documented ancestor on that line, my 5th great grandmother (I love her name!), Thankful Isham (1752-1834).   #25 and #339 meet in Edgar’s lineage at his great grandparents:  #25 Elizabeth Weekes (1731-1752) and #339 Thomas Carnes (1731-1795), the parents of Edgar’s grandmother Elizabeth Carnes (1756-1835).   Unfortunately, We’re Related seemed to ignore the part about Elizabeth being born FOUR YEARS AFTER HER MOTHER DIED.
