Cedar and Lumber Docks – 1911

ThunderBay1911

Cedar and Lumber Docks, Thunder Bay, Alpena, Mich.    Published by A. C. Dietsche, Detroit, Mich.  Printed in Germany.  188535

Post marked Alpena, Mich.  Sep 17, 1911.   Addressed to Mrs. [Effie Lee] Weaver, 94 Tireman Ave. Detroit, Mich.

“Trip was beautiful.  Sick for 2 hrs going over the Bay.  The boat lays up here for one hour.  Just grand on the water.  Will send you postal on next stop.  With love.  Mrs. O & Florence.”

No idea who Mrs. O was.  Not sure who this particular Florence was.   Interesting that she would say it was just “grand on the water” and “sick for 2 hrs going over the Bay” on the same card.    Lumber was king in Michigan in the early 20th century!

About Pat Shaul

Genealogist / Family Historian; Blog started as a record of my Grandfather's post card collection which ran for 15 months. Then, in June, 2017, I changed over to reporting and commenting on notifications from the ANCESTRY app "We're Related" I then started to provide snippets into ancestor biographies on the dates that were significant anniversaries.
