Mt Carmel Hospital, Columbus – 1919

Mt. Carmel Hospital, Columbus, Ohio.  Published by Haenlein Bros., Columbus, Ohio.

Post marked Columbus, Ohio. Apr 8, 1919.  Addressed to Mrs. Lee [Florence Koontz] Weaver, 91 Tireman Ave, Detroit, Mich.

“Harold [Spuhler, a distant cousin] paraded here yesterday.  He won a French Crote de Guerre.  He was one of 11 out of 3600 who one [sic.] it.  These 11 lead [sic.] the parade and say they were proud of time.   I never heard so much cheering as these 11 men got.  As ever. ”

Unsigned, but the card came from Uncle Heinie [Henry Allen Koontz] with his usual closing.  Uncle Harold was a ½ first cousin, once removed to Grandma Florence and Uncle Heinie.   Grandma’s sister, Essie,  and Uncle Harold married in 1923 after her divorce was final from Louis Kincaid Postle in 1922.  Since there was no issue from the marriage, there was no issue to the two being so closely related.

About Pat Shaul

Genealogist / Family Historian; Blog started as a record of my Grandfather's post card collection which ran for 15 months. Then, in June, 2017, I changed over to reporting and commenting on notifications from the ANCESTRY app "We're Related" I then started to provide snippets into ancestor biographies on the dates that were significant anniversaries.
