Derek Jeter is supposed to be my 9th cousin, twice removed through our MRCA, Henry Thompson (1569-1648).  I can only confirm through Anthony Thompson (1612-1648), my 9th great grandfather, whom Ancestry claims is the son of Henry.   So, one more generation to verify!    Of great concern is the sprinkling of PRIVATE through the pedigree for persons LONG DEAD!  What is with this #ANCESTRY ?  PRIVATE-1 in my pedigree is my 6th great grandfather.   This is Mark Hotchkiss (1714-1775).  Well know father of Eunice Hotchkiss.   And PRIVATE-2 is my 7th great grandmother, Hannah Cruttenden (1678-1756), also well documented as the mother of Mark Hotchkiss.    So, “Cousin Derek” has a couple in his as well.  One in the late 18th century and one in the late 19th century.  I am quite sure both of these persons are DEAD.  So, where are these pedigree charts coming from?  Only #Ancestry knows for sure.  They are not telling. #ANCESTRYERROR #ANCESTRYQUESTION #ANCESTRY.COM
