John Jay – Supreme cousin!

JohnJay

First Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States as my 5th cousin, 8 times removed — should get me out of at least a parking ticket on the Mall!  Well, that would imply the pedigrees were accurate.  I was pleased to see the ever-present PRIVATE was missing from both lines.  Beyond my 8th great grandfather, I will need to prove out 4 more generations to arrive at the MRCA, John Phillips (1536-1626).  But, that would be an interesting To Do.  Looking at the pedigree supplied for Justice Jay, I was amazed to see that his great great grandfather sired a son at the age of 9! Possible some creative name matching here with little thought to “could not have really been the right person”?
