“Dear Cousin, Lee will you be home next week.  If so, Clare [Clare Lavern Wright] and I will be in and stay a day or two.  Our school does not start till a week from Monday.   Mamma [Marietta Lee Wright] has been having a time with her teeth.  Will close.   Mae.[Marian Mae Wright]”

Apparently, school did not start until after Labor Day in Southfield back in 1909.

This was a birthday greeting to my great grandfather from his niece, Erma Lorene Churches, the daughter of his wife’s sister, Ora Lee Churches.

Apparently, my grandfather  wanted my great grandfather, Lemuel Weaver, to see a picture of the Ohio State campus.   The post card is simply addressed to Lemuel L. Weaver Detroit, Michigan   94 Tireman.     No signature. No message.   Luckily, grandpa, Lee Weaver, had very distinctive penmanship.

Post card from Florence Koontz to Lee Weaver — both birthdays were in May, so we know they were not really concerned about being right on time, or, maybe they were just being coy.  An interesting point is that the card was simply addressed:
Mr Lee Weaver
Tireman St.
Cor Scotten Ave.
Detroit, Mich.
and  it was delivered.   Simpler times!

Hey, not all post card were those pretty post cards.   Some served as simply the early 1900’s version of text messages.   This one was post marked Redford, Mich, Mar 2, 1909, and simply addressed Mr Lee Weaver, Ypsilanti, Mich   C.B.C.

“I’m coming not yet, but soon. If nothing happens will leave Detroit on the nine o’clock car Tuesday morning that will get me in Ypsi at eleven come down to the waiting room at noon and I  be there.  REG.   PS Is your feet dry yet.”

Sent to Lee Weaver at Cleary Business College, Ypsilanti, Mich.

Will have to see if Grandma kept her word and sent a post card with her own high school pictured.  The two had known each other since early childhood.  Their marriage lasted for over  50 years.

To Miss F. Koontz at 1346 W Broad Ave, Columbus, Ohio.  This is a post card to my grandmother from my grandfather [Lee Weaver] nine years prior to their being married.  Grandpa was at Cleary Business School in Ypsilanti at the time.
